Katana saeculo quarto decimo a Masamune signatum cum inscriptione aurea veteriter Iaponice: 城和泉守所持, "a Jô possessa, Domino Izumi, a Masamune formata; Hon'a signata". Longitudo laminae est 70.6 centimetra.[1]


Katana[2] sive catana[3] (Iaponice 刀, katana) est gladius Iaponicus, paulum curvatus secandoque accomodatus. Unum gladiorum Iaponicorum (日本刀, nihontō) more maiorum factorum est. Katana modis hodierno et traditionali finguntur. A samuraeis veteribus Iaponiae temporibus maxime adhibita sunt.
