Terminalia chebula (binomen ab Andrea Ioanne Retzio anno 1789 statutum) est species arborum fructiferarum fructus edules medicinalesque producens. "Habitat in montibus Palliacattensibus vel Mariensibus mixta cum Pterocarpo Santalino", ait Retzius. Aut sponte aut culturae gratia per Asiam australem et austro-orientalem necnon Sericam meridianam gignitur. Fructus inter eos, qui myrobalani appellari solent, una cum Terminalia bellirica et Phyllanthus emblica comprehenditur; iam apud Clusium anno 1567 myrobalanus quebula appellatur.
