Lampyridae sunt familia insectorum quae bioluminescentia res corporis habet. Lampyrida lucem adaperire et declausere potest atque in aurorá et skymning eam utitur attrahendis aliis eius creaturae sive praedis. Eius lux aut gilvus, viridis aut pale rubra est et in longitudinibus undae a 510 ad 670 nm esse potest. Lampyridae lux nec frequentias infrarubras nec ultraviolaceas habet. Larvae lampyridae quoque lucit sed modo se ipsius.


Lampyrida in locis cum caelis mediis et calorioribus incolit. Multae lampyridae in silvis maditis incolunt. Ambo mas et femina in multis insectis lampyridae volare possunt. Tamen in aliquis feminae non possunt.


Lampyrida firefly Anglice vocatur, quod "musca ignis" significat.
