Amphitrite (Ἀμφιτρίτη) in mythologia Graeca fuit aut una ex Oceanidibus, filiis Oceani et Tethyis,[1] aut una e Nereidibus, filiabus Nerei dei marini quae e Doride genuit.[2] Ab Hesiodo in Theogonia cum sororibus Cymatolege et Cymodoce in descriptione iungitur:


Κυμοδόκη θ᾽, ἣ κύματ᾽ ἐν ἠεροειδέι πόντῳ

πνοιάς τε ζαέων ἀνέμων σὺν Κυματολήγῃ

ῥεῖα πρηΰνει καὶ ἐυσφύρῳ Ἀμφιτρίτῃ

scil. "Cymodoce quae cum Cymatolege et talís formosa Amphitrite faciliter undas aërosi ponti animasque vivorum ventorum sedat"[3] Amphitrite fuit secundum alios coniunx Poseidonis seu Neptuni. In mythologia Orphica Amphitrite fuit una e quinque deorum maris maximorum (alii fuerunt Glauce, Proteus, Phorcys, Triton).[4]
