Iustinus Febronius.


Febronianismus est doctrina politico-theologica quae magni ponderis ultimis annis saeculi duodevicensimi fuit. Eius auctor erat Iustinus Febronius, sive Iohannes Nicolaus von Hontheim, suffraganeus Treverensis et episcopus Myriophytanus. Doctrinam explicuit in libro cui titulus Iustini Febronii Juris consulti, de Statu Ecclesiæ et legitima potestate Romani Pontificis Liber singularis ad reuniendos dissidentes in religione christianos compositus (Bullioni apud Guillelmum Evrardi, 1763). In hoc libro, praecipue doctrinam Espenianam qua imbutus est tempore studiorum in universitate lovaniensi sustinuit et auxit. Doctrina adversus systema monarchicum Ecclesiae Catholicae se erigebat, volebatque cum protestantibus viam communem invenire.
