Iam 3000 a.C.n gens regione vixerunt. Anno 400 a.C.n. vicus helvetius nomine "Tenedo" condidus est. Postea (58 a.C.n.) imperaverunt romanis cum helvetii Caesare vincti sunt apud Bibracte. Tenedo a Romanis gravis castellum prope Vindonissa factum est quod ibi pons trans rhenum construerant. Romani relinquent Tenedo anno 401 cum Italia se retinerent.
