Angelopolis[1][2] (vulgo Los Angeles) est maxima Californiae urbs et Civitatum Foederatarum secunda, urbe Novo Eboraco locum primum tenente. Regio metropolitana omnis orbis terrarum duodevigesimum esse censetur quo ad numerum incolarum pertinet. Urbs enim propria medio anno 2014 incolas 3 928 864, regio metropolitana 13 131 431 habuit. Angelopolis iam saeculo duodevicensimo condita, non ante saeculum XX ad tantam magnitudinem crevit.


In vallibus sita est meridianarum Californiae partium iuxta oram Pacificum ad pedem montium qui usque ad altitudinem 3000 metrorum surgunt ad boream et orientem versus. Urbibus et suburbiis frequentatis celebratisque circumdatur inter quibus Ruscisilva, Sancta Monica, Litus Longum.

Media imagine sub montibus Sancti Gabrielis urbs ipsa splendet; ultra Desertum Mojave distinguitur; ad sinistram partem iuxta oram maritimam longius Sancta Monica urbs, propius paeninsula Palos Verdes, ad dextram partem portus Angelopolitanus urbsque Litoris Longi videntur.


Regionem circumiacentem omnem, a populis Amerindis Chuvash et Tongva iam habitatam, Ioannes Rodríguez Cabrillo pro rege Hispanico anno 1542 vindicavit. Oppidum autem loco urbis hodiernae primum condiderunt coloni quattuor et quadraginta anno 1781 auctoritate tam Philippi de Neve gubernatoris Californiae Superioris quam viceregis Novae Hispaniae Antonii de Bucareli. Appellatione El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles del Río de Porciúncula nuncupaverunt.
