Sextus Papinius Allenius (quando natus mortuusve sit, nescimus) senator Romanus primo saeculo post Christum natum fuit. Patria eius Patavium fuit. Homo novus Papinius tribunus militum ultimis annis Augusti in Africa et Syria militavit. Tum erat quaestor, legatus legionis, tribunus militum, praetor, legatus ignotae provinciae, denique anno 36 consul ordinarius creatus est. Duos filios habuit, Sextum Papinium, qui anno 37 a matre in incestum illectus mortem voluntariam petivit, et alium Sextum Papinium, quem conspirationis participem Caligula imperator anno 40 cruciatibus necari iussit[1].


Hic Sextus Papinius, "quem consulem vidimus", is fuit qui (secundum Plinium) zizipha et tuberes, antea a se "in castris sata", primus in Italiam attulit.[2]
