Cyatheales sunt ordo pteridophytorum subclassis Cyatheatarum classis Polypodiopsidorum.[1] Non omnibus Cyathealibus sunt eaedem proprietates morphologicae, sed data sequentiarum DNA monstrant ordinem esse monophyleticum. Nonnullis speciebus Cyathealium sunt formae arborum similes, sed aliis sunt rhizomata repentia. Nonnullis species in caulibus et foliis sunt squamae, sed aliis sunt pili. Plurimi autem Cyatheales in familias Dicksoniacearum et Cyatheacearum digeruntur, caulibus truncorum similibus ad 20 m alti. Quotiens forma arborea se in ordine evolverit et amiserit, obscurum est.[2]
