Carolus I, dux Brunsvicensis et Luneburgensis,[1] postea princeps (natus die 1 Augusti 1713 Brunsvici; ibidem die 26 Martii 1780 mortuus) anno 1745 collegium Carolinum condidit. Anno 1747 in vico Fürstenberg fabricam Porcellani condidit. Tredecim liberos genuit, inter alios et Annam Amaliam, quae postea Ernesto Augusto II duci Saxoniae-Vimarii-Eisenach nupsit.
