Ratio aequabilitatis[1] est systema sociale quod aequalitatem inter classes sociales defendit et proclamat.


Doctrina recens aequabilitatis saeculis XVIII et XIX formata est; primum in lingua Francogallica apparuit vocabula égalitaire (saltem anno 1836)[2], unde égalitarisme et vocabula similia in aliis linguis, e.g. Anglice egalitarianism, Theodisce Egalitarismus. Neograece vocabulum ισοπολιτεία adhibetur, deductum ex notione Greaca antiqua ἰσοπολιτεία (isopolitia) ex "ίσος" et "πόλις", quae aequalitatem iurum inter homines, communia, aut civitates significat.[3]
