Imago corporis (Anglice body image; Theodisce Körperschema)[1] est praecipua pars sui aestimationis, quae homini singulari est. Sua cuique est opinio corporis sui proprii et privati, quali figura, forma, statura sit, quanta arte et celeritate se moveat, qua membrorum pulchritudine et suavitate sexuali ornatum sit. Hominum inter ipsos societas semper ubique humani corporis puchritudinem magni facit — licet opinio pulchritudinis certe
aliquantum variet inter homines, prout corpora suo modo adspiciendi cuique consuetudo est — sed fieri potest, ut hominis singularis de suo corpore opinio non semper moribus societatis congruat.


Imago corporis ex eo fit, quod quispiam ipse in consuetudine cotidiana passus expertusque est, nec non ex notitia sui ac valetudine mentis. Fieri enim potest, ut iniucunda sui corporis opinio in compulsivam inediam aut dysmorphophobiam ducat. Quod quispiam comparans se cum aliis hominibus communive perfecti corporis opinione de se ipso sentit, id magnam vim habere videtur ad corporis imaginem creandam.
