Hiems tempus frigidissimum anni est, quamobrem hieme saepe ningit. Dies solstitii hiemalis a brevitate bruma (< brevima 'brevissima') vocatur.


Nonnulla animalia, velut ursi et talpae, hieme dormire solent.
