Biographia |




Ruris facies hiemalis (1615-1620)


Huius artificis vita parum nota est: usque ad anno 1950, enim, nescitus est[1][2].


Florum pictoris Ambrosii Bosschaert, probabiliter, discipulus[1][2], de 1616 usque ad 1628 Medioburgi laboravit[3]. Anno 1617 primum opus perfecit, quod diem habuit[3]. Anno 1619 loci Sancti Lucae Societatis comes[3] et anno 1621 decanus fuit[4]. Eodem anno Medioburgi domus comparavit[4] et anno 1628 adhuc eius dominus erat[3]. Pictura venationis cum pomis, anno 1624 ab eo perfecta[3], artis batavicae historiae eiusmodi opus primissimum putari potest: enim plurima haec opera ex 1640 creata est[1]. Anno 1642 picturam, culinam effigientem, pinxit [1][2]. Praeterea, post incendium, Medioburgi ecclesiam decoravit[1][2].


Van den Berghe maxime ruris facies, praecipue hiemalis, ab Ioannis Breugelii senioris operis adductas,[1][2] et ab Hadriani van de Venne illis similia[5], aedificia atque monumenta, naturas mortuas, praesertim cum floris, vanitates et culinam effigiantes pinxit[3]. Huic artifici solum quattuor florum naturae mortuae certe tributae sunt[1], praeterea Ambrosii Bosschaert et Rodolphi Savery recordationes exhibuerunt[4]. Van den Berghe, in ruris faciebus, figuras pingebat[4] et eius opera CvB signabat[2][3].
